This Week's TV: What's in store for Doctor Who?

Doctor Who has turned Matt Smith into a household name and he tells TV Choice about the thrilling climax to his first series as the Time Lord.

LONDON, ENGLAND, June 25, 2010 /Television PR News/ -- The Doctor is battling to escape the terrifying Pandorica after he was trapped by his old enemies, including the Daleks and the Cybermen, in last week's opening episode of a two-part story. Meanwhile, the Doctor's assistant Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan, was apparently killed by her dead fiance Rory! 'When I read last week's episode my first thought was, "How the hell do we get out of this one?" says Matt Smith. 'But we do and it's amazing. I think it's the best we've done.' Matt Smith also talks about how Doctor Who has changed his life, and his co-star Karen Gillan.

Also in this week's issue, Tom Hollander stars in a new sitcom Rev playing a vicar who swaps his country parish for an inner-city church, while Holby City's Hari Dhillon reveals what's in store for his character Michael Spence. Midsommer Murders' John Nettles delves into the wartime history of the Channel Islands, and Dave Spikey returns alongside Jo Brand, Laila Rouass and Stephen Tompkinson with more reading suggestions in The TV Book Club. Also, old pals Melanie Sykes and Denise Van Outen team up to co-present The 5 O'Clock Show.

In the soaps, Owen's body is discovered in EastEnders, and David vows to split Tina and Graeme up in Corrie. Nathan and Natasha discover who their stalker is in Emmerdale, and Anita is taken hostage at gunpoint in Hollyoaks. Naomi takes drastic steps to get Ringo's attention in Neighbours, and will a familiar face mean problems for Nicole and Penn's romance in Home And Away?

There is also a week-long holiday to the Mediterranean island of Menorca to be won in this week's great TV Choice competition.
